Charleston National Golf Club was envisioned by its designers in the 1980's to be a world class golf enclave similar to Augusta National. However, soon after opening in 1989, Hurricane Hugo made landfall only a few miles away and took out thousands of trees that formed the one of a kind landscape. After reopening a year later, the course was never quite the same, but Charleston National is still a scenic, challenging golf course and a great place to live.
Charleston National real estate is as varied as its meandering golf holes. There are small patio style homes, elevated townhomes, and large custom homes with expansive marsh and intracoastal waterway views. A few sections of the neighborhood are gated.
Amenities at Charleston National include a fitness center, community pool, and of course the Rees Jones designed golf course. Golf memberships are available or the course can be played for a daily green fee.
